Interview with Million China Box.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

Hi there! I am Luke, a Singaporean based in China for the last 5 years doing IT Businesses. With a team of IT wizards, we do IT marketing and online business for our clients here in China and Asia. Together, we run the www.millionchinabox.com and www.1000000yuan.com to act as a bridge for the east and west. We will market millionchinabox in the US/Europe while www.1000000yuan.com in China and Asia.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

We were inspired by the Million Dollar Home Page (MDH). We have been trying to come up with a low cost and interesting way to bridge our clients from the US, Europe to that of China and vice verse. When we first see MDH, we said to ourselves, "Hey, that's interesting! Why not?" Not all Chinese understand English, therefore, we create the 1000000yuan to link to your site once you have advertised in MillionChinaBox.

What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?

The system we used for our sites is automated and need very minimal manual insertion. As we have been in the IT marketing industry for years, the setting up of this 2 sites took us 2 days. We uses VBScript and SQL to run our page. The reason is because we want to make the whole system as automated as possible so that we can spend more time in the marketing of the 2 sites. With more time spent on marketing (instead of just bringing in business and updating), we want to bring more value and hits to our customers.

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

Double Your Exposure! In the West and East (China)! We set up 2 websites because for every pixel you get in MillionChinaBox, you get another one in 1000000yuan, thus Double Your Exposure. For the 1000000yuan site, we actually do a manual English to Chinese translation so that the local Chinese are able to UNDERSTAND and GET your point in your website context. We do not use any automated translation software because we believe that the effect will not be too good. While MillionChinaBox give your site exposure, 1000000yuan will give your sites HITS from China and Asia. Therefore, 2 for the price of 1!!

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

We are confident that with our expertise in online marketing experience, we understand the habits and internet usage of the Chinese here and in Asia. Therefore, don't be surprised that your sites will be getting massive amounts of traffic from China.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

With 2 websites, we offer 2 times the Exposure the advertisers will be getting. We plan to leverage on the funds we received from our advertisers so that they will get more value in return. The reason is that the amount of advertising funds which we received will be leveraged when we used that to advertise over here in China as the currency exchange favours the US dollar. Therefore, we can do more with the same amount of funds.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

We have been in the IT marketing business for years here and all we can say is that: It will depend how and who market the websites or product. Our sites can be just a launching pad to let the rest of the world who does not understand much English know about your site. Once we have this interesting platform, there will be a lot of other potential online opportunities for all our customers to spread their word to the EAST.
